International Overview: Rabiot’s France debut to Brazil’s fine form

From striker Edinson Cavani’s disappointment despite giving his country the lead, to Thomas Meunier chipping in with a goal in Belgium’s destruction of Estonia, here is your recap of what PSG’s stars got up to across the world on the clubs week break…

Probably most importantly, Adrien Rabiot gained his cap for Les Bleu’s from the start against Serge Aurier’s Ivory Coast. The game ended 0-0 and Rabiot’s debut was cut short due to injury. A big concern for Paris Saint Germain with the Frenchman looking a doubt for the massive Champions League tie against Arsenal next week.

Fortunately, Rabiot was the only concern for Paris this week. Also in Europe, Belgium humbled Estonia 8-0, with Thomas Meunier opening the scoring, and Grzegorz Krychowiak and Marco Verratti both played crucial parts in their World Cup qualifiers. The former captaining his side against Slovenia.

Meanwhile in South America, Les Parisiens central defensive partnership continued Brazil’s impressive form with consecutive wins over rivals Argentina and Peru. However, Di Maria and Argentina were able to bounce back to beat Columbia 3-0, with Angel Di Maria getting the third to seal the win. Elsewhere, Cavani and Uruguay didn’t have such great luck, although Cavani was able to score before the game turned on its head for Uruguay.

With a deal made with a bunch of Premier League clubs to split the cost of a private jet in order for their players to get back to the French Capital, Paris’ players will be fresh for a home match against Nantes on Saturday.
