Match Preview: PSG take on an in form Nantes side in Ligue 1

Paris Saint Germain take on Nantes on Saturday afternoon with the chance to go within one point of Nice who looked to be in control of the league going into 2017 but a couple of poor results from them have certainly given Paris hope that they can retain their title this year.

Over recent seasons, PSG have a very impressive record over their opponents this weekend. Paris have won each of their last 5 games against Nantes, recording 4 goals on two seperate occasions too.

However, Nantes won’t be as easy to defeat this time around though. Les Parisiens eased Nantes aside 2-0 earlier in the season, Di Maria and Jese with the goals, but Nantes have improved dramatically since then. They’ve won 4 out of their last 5 games in all competition and morale will be very high in the Canaries camp going into the big clash.

Elsewhere in Ligue 1, leaders Nice could only come away with a 1-1 draw against Bastia down in Corsica. The results means that PSG could move up to a point away from Nice at the top of the table with a win away at Nantes. AS Monaco, however, could also stay ahead of PSG with a victory at home to Lorient.

Team News

Kevin Trapp will retain his place in goal for PSG with Areola left out of the squad because of injury. Krychowiak, Pastore and Kurzawa are also all out of the clash, with injury getting the best of the latter. Also Di Maria will look to try and regain his starting place after being dropped last time out.

Predicted Starting XI

(4-3-3) Trapp; Maxwell, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva (C), Meunier; Motta, Verratti, Matuidi; Draxler, Cavani, Lucas

Subs: Descamps, Kimpembe, Rabiot, Lo Celso, Nkunku, Di Maria, Ben Arfa

Score Prediction

Nantes 1-1 PSG
