Paris Saint Germain travel to the south west coast of France to face Bordeaux with their 100% win record still intact and the final of the French League Cup in their sights.
Paris have a very impressive record in the Coupe De La Ligue. They’ve dominated it over recent seasons, winning it in each of the last three seasons in a very comfortable fashion too. As well as their great record, PSG are currently in their best run of form all season, scoring freely and have yet to concede a goal in 2017.
Bordeaux are also unbeaten in their last five games in all competition. They’ve recorded impressive wins against Toulouse and Guingamp, the latter in the quarter finals of this competition, and have managed to hold out for a 0-0 against high lying Nice in that space of time.
Last time the two teams met Edinson Cavani was the hero with a brace in a 2-0 win for Paris and El Matador carries the same form into this clash after single-handedly helping Les Parisiens to another 2-0 win over Nantes last weekend.
Paris have only beaten Bordeaux twice in five meeting in previous seasons, which as good as any other French team can boast against the reigning Ligue 1 and Coupe De La Ligue champions. Therefore a win won’t be easy to come by for Les Rouge et Bleu’s, but fine form makes Paris the favourites to be the team in the final at the end of the 90 minutes.
PSG are without many key players for the Semi Final. Grzegorz Krychowiak, Jean Kevin Augustin, Serge Aurier, Julian Draxler, Thiago Motta and Javier Pastore are all out for their seperate reasons. With Motta out, much praised Adrien Rabiot is likely to get a starting spot and Di Maria will also get a chance up front in order to recover his form with Julian Draxler out with an injury he picked up on Saturday at Nantes.
Predicted Starting XI
(4-3-3) Areola; Meunier, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Maxwell; Rabiot, Verratti, Matuidi; Di Maria, Cavani, Lucas
Subs: Trapp, Kimpembe, Kurzawa, Georgen, Ben Arfa, Lo Celso, Nkunku
Bordeaux 0-1 PSG
