It’s the biggest game of the season this far for Paris Saint Germain. They welcome league leaders and number one challengers to their reigning french crown Monaco to the Parc Des Princes this evening in a massive top of the table clash.
This crucial clash couldn’t have come at a better time for PSG. Unbeaten in 2017 with some incredible and professional performances in the league and domestic competitions. Di Maria and Edinson Cavani shone in the midweek 4-1 victory over Bordeaux, who had previously become a complicated fixture for PSG. This neat victory then further emphasises Paris’ great form at the moment. But Paris will want a vast improvement from the dreadful 3-1 defeat to Monaco earlier in the season.
However Les Rouge et Blancs go into the game this evening with similarly impressive form. They too are unbeaten in there last 5 games, defeating Nancy 1-0 in midweek to set up another a Coupe De La Ligue final fixture with PSG later in the season.
There is a great deal of talent on display when France’s in form sides meet, most notably Radamel Falcao and Les Parisiens Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan is the out and out leader in the goal-scoring charts this season but Falcao’s recovery of form has really caught the eye of Ligue 1 viewers. El Tigre is just one of many stand out performers in the Monaco side, who have become known as the entertainers this season, averaging over three goals a game!
“They’re a great team with great players. They’re full of confidence. They’re able to keep possession and are good at switching from defence to attack. They know how to exploit the weaknesses of their opponents. We’ll have to play well, stay compact and be able to press our opponents.”

As for PSG, they are without midfield maestro Marco Verratti for the contest due to injury. Paris Saint Germain always seem to be more comfortable with him in the team so he will be a big miss. However Verratti’s absence will give Adrien Rabiot a chance over the next couple of weeks. In addition, new signing Goncalo Guedes is in the squad to face Monaco in the clash that could be pivotal in deciding who will lift the Ligue 1 trophy in May.
Paris unfortunately are without some big names. Marco Verratti is out with injury, as well as Javier Pastor and Grzegorz Krychowiak. Serge Aurier is also unavailable despite his his nation, Ivory Coast, being knockout of the African Cup of Nations. More positively, Goncalo Guedes is in the squad, which will excite Les Parisien supporters, as well as Julian Draxler, Thiago Motta and Alphonse Areola who all return.
Predicted Starting XI
(4-3-3) Trapp; Meunier, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva (C), Kurzawa; Motta, Rabiot, Matuidi, Lucas, Cavani, Draxler
Subs: Areola, Maxwell, Kimpembe, Nkunku, Ben Arfa, Di Maria, Guedes
