Match Preview: Bordeaux could pose another difficult test

Paris came through a massive scare against Lille earlier in the week and now they travel to on Bordeaux in another must-win match with a fierce title  race taking place around them.

The title race has been electric this season and next in line for Paris is difficult away trip to Girondins de Bordeaux. Fixtures with Bordeaux have been very tough for PSG recently too. Only two wins in their last 5 games with their opponents make this trip very daunting and nothing other than a win will be necessary for PSG.

Bordeaux are also in really fine form. They’ve won three out of their last five games in all competition; their only defeat in that spell coincidently was to Paris Saint Germain who defeated them comfortably 4-1 in the French League Cup last month.

PSG will welcome back Marco Verratti from injury but may not risk the fitness of the Italian with Barcelona to come on Tuesday. Kevin Trapp and Thomas Meunier, who both were in great form, are now back in contention too which will be a big bonus for Les Parisiens.

Emery is unlikely to risk victory and as a result should field an adequate team in order to get the job done. He will likely return to 4-3-3 as well after his change of formation on Tuesday did not live up to Paris’ high expectations. Di Maria might also be given a start ahead of Lucas Moura or Julian Draxler after his exceptional performance in midweek and he has already scored a brace against Bordeaux this year.

Predicted Starting XI

(4-3-3) Trapp; Meuneir, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Kurzawa; Motta, Rabiot, Matuidi; Lucas, Cavani, Di Maria

Subs: Areola, Kimpembe, Aurier, Draxler, Nkunku, Ben Arfa, Guedes

Score Prediction

Bordeaux 1-2 PSG
