On Saturday Paris Saint Germain will host league strugglers Nancy at the Parc Des Princes with the chance to temporarily go level with leaders Monaco, prior to there clash with Nantes on Sunday.
Like every game in Ligue 1, Paris know it is another must win match with such a fierce title race this time around. A win would not just take PSG level with Monaco it will certainly put the leaders, and Nice just one point behind Les Parisiens, under a lot of pressure to continue to perform and grind out good results of there own.
Nancy are in dreadful form in all competitions. They are without a win in five matches; recording 4 defeats in a row before managing to scramble a draw against Toulouse last weekend. Therefore the visitors should not trouble a PSG side with brilliant performances behind them, but that said Paris have to remain focused to get the job done.
The trip away at Nancy wasn’t plain sailing for PSG earlier in the season. They relied on two early goals to defeat their opponents. Les Parisiens struggled last time out against Niort in the French Cup as well. Emery’s substitutes were the difference at the final whistle; Javier Pastore and Edinson Cavani with the decisive goals. Similarly, Unai Emery will be relying on his star players this afternoon in order to overcome Nancy this weekend, with the second leg at Barcelona very much in the sights for Les Parisiens going into the match.
Adrien Rabiot, Angel Di Maria, Thiago Motta, Christopher Nkunku and Marquinhos are all absent for the clash with Nancy. Motta and Marquinhos could make Paris vulnerable at the back, but Kimpembe has certainly proved he is a worthy replacement in the Paris back line. Krychowiak also has a good chance to make his second start in a row with Rabiot and Motta both out.
