Paris Saint Germain came away from Angers on Friday night with all three points thanks to man in form Angel Di Maria who bagged a fine brace to keep the pressure on the title rivals.
Di Maria has been in fine form recently and proved his class on Friday night. He put Paris Saint Germain ahead just before the half and hour mark with a stunning free kick which gave former Paris keeper Letellier no chance.
El Fideo’s fellow countryman, Javier Pastore, has also been in fabulous form recently but failed to make an impact on Friday and in the end it was his replacement Lucas Moura that caught they eye in Di Maria’s second strike. The 24 year-old ran through the Angers midfield and played a delightful ball into the path of Di Maria who finish mirrors his sky high confidence at the moment.
Kevin Trapp was another individual to stand out in the 2-0 lead. Trapp made several high quality saves when Paris were under pressure and boss Unai Emery was full of praise for the German after the match.
“We suffered sometimes and Trapp played well.”

Frustratingly for PSG, Monaco came from behind to regain their three point lead at the top of Ligue 1 against Dijon on Saturday evening. With limited games remaining, all Paris can do is continue winning and putting the pressure on Monaco, who go up against Lyon at the Parc OL next week after a clash with Dortmund in midweek, which if a slip up was to occur, PSG for sure will be ready to pounce.
Final Score: Angers 0-2 PSG
Top Performance: Angel Di Maria – The Argentine scored both goals for PSG and has been outstanding since the new year, 10 goals in total now this calendar year.
Next Match: Metz v PSG, Tuesday 18th April, 5:30pm
Another crucial match in the race for the title for PSG. Nothing other than a win is acceptable as they look to put more pressure back on the shoulders of Monaco. Emery’s men go up against Metz who sit 15th in the league, still fighting for safety but should not pose much of threat to Paris having not won a league match for month.
Score Prediction: Metz 1-3 PSG
