Match Preview: PSG in the driving seat of Group B when they travel to the Allianz

PSG have all but sealed their top spot of Group B in this years UEFA Champions League as long as they don’t lose by four or more goals away at European giants Bayern Munich tonight.

It is very improbable that PSG will fail to finish top, and consequently face an easier Round of 16 draw, but not impossible after last season’s Champions League experience.

That said the Parisiens have been flawless so far; winning an a perfect five out of five, setting an unequalled goal scoring tally in the process. PSG’s last trip out saw them put seven past Celtic and a 3-0 win against Bayern in the reverse fixture puts them in a fantastic position, a position that was unexpected when the draw was first made.

The German leaders will want to avenge that 3-0 defeat back at the Parc in September and they come into the game in much improved form. A surprise defeat to Gladbach ended a formidable winning run in all competitions before they comfortably beat Hannover in front of their home fans on the weekend.

Both teams lead their domestic league tables but only one of these two heavyweights, and favourites of this years competition, can reign successful in Group B. Avoiding any other European embarrassment, PSG should finish of the job.
