PSG to face Real Madrid in last 16

With an almost perfect group stage performance, there was only one team in the Round of 16 draw that frightened the Parisians… and you can guess what happened next!

Real Madrid are not only the holders of the UEFA Champions League but the current squad is the only side in Champions League history to win the prestige tournament back to back.

Although Ronaldo and Co. are good enough to strike fear into any opponent they face, it’s not all doom and gloom for PSG. Arguably this Paris team is the best we’ve seen in years and Real Madrid haven’t hit their best form yet this season. They failed to beat Tottenham Hotspur in two attempts in the group stage and currently sit eight points off the top of the league in Spain.

The stand out fixture of the Round of 16 has also pitched up two of the world’s best players against each other. Neymar, the world’s most expensive player, goes up against Cristiano Ronaldo who recently won his fifth Ballon d’Or. It’s going to be a mouth-watering clash.

PSG go up against Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu on 14 February before the return leg in Paris on 8 March. The rest of the draw threw up some key ties as well. Fellow Group B runners up Bayern Munich go up against Besiktas JK; Barcelona take on Chelsea and Juventus v Tottenham is bound to be a cracking matchup.

The rest of the draw is as follows..

Juventus (ITA) – Tottenham Hotspur FC (ENG)
FC Bâle 1893 (SWI) – Manchester City FC (ENG)
FC Porto (POR) – Liverpool FC (ENG)
Séville FC (ESP) – Manchester United FC (ENG)
Real Madrid CF (ESP) – Paris Saint-Germain (FRA)
FC Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR) – AS Rome (ITA)
Chelsea FC (ENG) – FC Barcelone (ESP)
FC Bayern Munich (GER) – Besiktas JK (TUR)
