PSG travel to struggling Troyes this weekend without any of the MCN in the match day squad. This, however, has opened the unexpected door for youngsters including Timothy Weah – son of George – who have the chance to gain Paris all three points from their trip to Troyes.
Unai Emery has taken the chance to rest many key first team players ahead of the clash with Real Madrid in midweek. Ligue 1 top scorer Edinson Cavani is rested along with Marco Verratti, Pastore, Marquinhos and Mbappe – with latter two also recovering from injuries they picked up last week.
These high profile names in the PSG outfit make way for the lesser know – yet extremely talented – youngsters; namely: centre back Kevin Rimane; Lorenzo Callegari and U.S youth international Timothy Weah.
Without a recognised striker in the squad it looks promising that Weah will get a fair amount of game time this Saturday. Draxler is Emery’s other option as a false nine, possibly lining up alongside another 20 year old in Nkunku who has become a familiar figure in the PSG match day squad under the Spaniard, as well as Angel Di Maria.
It’s hard to forget the Parisians 9-0 rout at Troyes two years ago when they were last in Ligue 1 and although they currently sit inside the relegation zone, Emery’s men can not afford to stand on ceremony this weekend with a weakened side.
Neymar and Cavani bagged the goals in the victory over this weekends opponents back in November but without any of the MCN, the exciting academy prospects such as Weah must stand up to plate, and we can’t wait to see what they’re made of…
